At a hotel in Northern Romania an abandoned dog, Indy, in front of a hotel is seen sleeping outside in the freezing cold. The temperatures outside drop to as much as 20°C (-4℉).
The owner of the hotel would chase away the poor dog because of fear that she would scare the tourists. In an attempt to get the Indy to leave the owner instructed employees not to give her food.
However, one of the tourists saw the dog and made a decision to help her. He contacted the fine folks at @Howl Of A Dog. The tourist made up his mind that he would help Indy, and was determined not to leave the resort until he had a solution that would save her life.
The tourist bought her a crate and warm blanket to keep her warm during the freezing cold nights. He was resolved to feeding her everyday. Unfortunately he couldn’t adopt her because he already had several pets himself.
Once @Howl Of A Dog committed to taking the dog in the tourist offered to drive the Indy the 500 km to them from the resort. Thus turning his vacation into a rescue mission.
The tourist had to make several attempts to get Indy into the crate. Eventually he was successful, and began the drive from the resort to @Howl Of A Dog. Indy slept in the car during the drive. It was probably her first chance to have a warm restful nap in a long time.
Once Indy arrived at @Howl Of A Dog she was immediately scanned for a microchip, but was found not to have one. The vets estimated that Indy was about 5 years old, but found that her teeth were showing wear and tear of a dog almost twice her age. She was given a complete physical examination, and ultrasound. The ultrasound was done to determine if there were any internally damaged organs. Indy was found to have no serious health issues.
Indy was spayed and recovered from surgery. She is shy so the staff is letting her discover things about her new life at her own pace. She is also still showing no interest in toys.
Indy is a fast learner and is already learning new tricks like sitting on command. She’s also making new friends with other dogs. She is slowly coming out of her shell and is learning to love life, and being cheerful.
The goal now is to find Indy a caring and supportive adoptive family. Indy is currently in Romania, but she can travel to the USA, Canada, and other European countries.
You can contact @Howl Of A Dog for inquires about adoption of Indy.
