Earlier last week, Cyprus announced a lockdown on the island to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The government also encouraged social distancing to avoid spreading COVID-19. People followed the strict rules, but a lot of pet owners found the lockdown quite a bit of a challenge since they need to take their pets out on walks.
Most dogs love going for a walk, and the more often they do it, the better. They find walking mentally stimulating, and when they do it outdoors, it is all the more beneficial to their overall health. For them, walking is a human equivalent of reading a good book or watching a new TV series, which can get them hooked for life.
Vakis Demetriou, a resident of Cyprus, very well knows the benefits of taking dogs out for a walk. That’s why he makes sure to find time to do this with his beloved pet. And his dog seems to look forward to it too, even now that the whole country is under quarantine.
Although taking out pets on walks is still allowed, Demetriou wants to be on the safe side. COVID-19 is something that has not to be taken lightly, so he does not want to take the risk. But his pet dog does not seem to think the same way, so he comes up with a creative way to take his dog out for walks without the risk of getting infected.
In the video below, Demetriou’s dog can be seen strolling near his home in Cyprus with an unlikely guide—a remote-controlled drone. The dog looks happy to get a chance to go out for a walk finally. He surely does not mind getting his leash attached to a drone—he just keeps walking and enjoying the little freedom that Demetriou gave him.
