While Pit Bulls are known for their aggressive behavior, they can still show how loyal and loving they are towards their owner. In Staten, New York, a 12-year-old Pit Bull named Kilo, protected his owner Justin Becker from a thief who pretended to be a FedEx delivery man. The robber tried to force his way into the victim’s apartment in Graniteville one Saturday afternoon.
Before the thief got in, Becker did his best to fight against the thief until he subdued it to the ground. He then pushed the door against his body. While the robber’s body was caught half-way inside the apartment, Kilo moved in and stuck his head out the door. That is when the poor dog got shot in the head.
The thief then escaped leaving Becker to tend for his injured pet. While his girlfriend, Nicole Percoco, was already heartbroken and about to give up on Kilo, Becker refused to let Kilo die. They rushed him to the closest veterinary hospital, which is the South Shore Animal Hospital.
After being examined, X-ray results showed that the bullet bounced out of the neck and did not go through the Pit Bull’s skull. Kilo had no bone fractured, and there doesn’t seem to be any brain injury. He was lucky, said Dr. Greg Panarello. He was given a cone around his neck to keep him moving too much. He was also to take painkillers and antibiotics so he can get well sooner.
Additionally, the clinic’s staff drew a letter S, which stands for a superhero on top of the bandage placed around the heroic dog’s head. While the bill was a bit high, Becker could care less. For him, what is necessary is that he was able to save the life of the dog, who also help protect him from imminent danger.
