Stray dogs often wander into workplaces that are out in the open. From farms to junkyards to construction sites, these dogs go into places where they can be at risk. Fortunately for some, workers know what to do when they see a stray wander into their workplace, and they go into action to save a dog.
The good people at Waste Management knew precisely what to do when a stray dog wandered into their recycling facility. They immediately called Hope For Paws and asked for help saving the pooch. Eldad Hagar and Lisa Arturo answered the call and went to rescue the pup.
Upon arriving, Eldad talked to the workers and scanned the area to search for the dog. He spotted it at the top of a heap of trash. Without thinking twice, Eldad decided he needed to scale the top of the pile to get to the animal.
The Waste Management team wasted no time and created a path so Eldad could get to the dog. The rescuer precariously went up the rubbish dump, careful of his steps. He approached the pup cautiously but briskly, as he didn’t want to scare it and cause it to fall.
The pooch, however, didn’t let Eldad get near. It continually moved away, and even trying to catch it from behind failed to work. Eventually, the dog managed to elude its rescuers entirely and disappeared somewhere within the plant.
Eldad and Lisa persisted and went back the next day to continue the rescue to save a dog. Eldad again scaled the top of the garbage heap. But like the day before, the dog ran away from him. Fortunately, the rescuers and workers succeeded in securing the area where he hid.
Scared, the dog barked at Eldad and even peed itself. Eldad patiently waited for the pooch to calm down enough for him to put a gentle snare on it. After an hour or so, the dog finally allowed his rescuer to set the snare and a Lucky Leash on it.
Lisa named the dog, Thor. Thor got the works after getting rescued – medical care, a warm bath, grooming, and a hot meal. He’s grateful to his rescuers and looks forward to finding a forever home.
