Nothing’s sadder than the story of this Myrtle Beach Pit Bull named Harold. He was returned to the shelter weeks after he got adopted by what he thought was his “family” who promised him a forever home. And this was not his first—it was the third time he was sent back to the shelter.
Harold knew that he did not do anything wrong, but it still puzzled him why his owners abandoned him. The volunteers at the shelter were even worried if he would ever find his way to his new home. But little did they know that Harold’s return to the shelter would yield something good just a few days after.
When Harold went to the loading dock area of the shelter, he knew that something was up in that large Tupperware container. A volunteer immediately took notice of his strange behavior and tried to drag him for his daily walk. But the pittie insisted, and that’s when the volunteer saw six puppies inside the container.
Harold’s heroic act made it into Facebook, but it wasn’t enough for him to meet his adoptive family. But there’s one person who became interested in meeting him, and that’s Marlene Ryba. When Ryba learned about this heroic dog, she decided to volunteer at the shelter so she could meet him.
When Ryba met Harold, the dog did not bother wagging his tail, and he did not even make eye contact when she called his name. She noticed that he was suffering from extreme anxiety. She wanted to help him, so she gave him more time and attention until he started coming out of his shell and gave her a big smile.
Ryba and Harold became closer, and so she thought she’d never want to disappoint him again. She then decided to adopt him and give him a forever home officially. Harold has never been happier when he walked out of the shelter with Ryba.
